Thina Zibi is passionate about storytelling. A city-lover with roots in rural Transkei, Thina trained as an art director at AAA School of advertising but really believes her learning comes from the art of people watching, spending hours between coffee shops and dingy dance floors in downtown Johannesburg.  What sets her apart is Thina's creative flare, emotive approach, a touch of humour, and her ability to meaningfully merge all the beautiful things she loves about people: how we laugh with our entire bodies, eat with our hands, open bottle caps with our teeth, and the words we make up to find one another across language barriers.

Thina got her start working in leading agencies, carving her way up from Junior to Creative Director, but her love for visual story-telling soon pushed her to follow her dream of becoming a film director. Currently, Thina’s short film “Bompi” is doing the rounds on the international film festival circuit, playing such festivals as PAFF and AFRIFF. Her 3-part mini web series funded by the international Black Women Distrupt programme was showcased on Kweli TV, and her first short, Bakhona was an art direction finalist and won a cinematography award at My Rode Reel.

With her understanding of the Advertising world and obsession with performance and character, Thina's ability to collaborate on projects is valued by the creative teams who work with her.
